54There are various types of trains operating on European train networks. Each train has its own pros and cons in terms of experiences and travel type.
Fast trains
This will get you there ASAP. Europe has many services operating at highspeed that intertwine, each with comfy seating options (such as 1st class, 2nd class etc) and offer catering services.
If you need to cover long distances or would just prefer to be there faster, than this is the right option for you. When travelling by high-speed train you may be required to make a seat reservation at an additional cost.
Express travel
There are a range of both international and domestic express trains that will get your were youre going quickly such as the InterCity (IC) or EuroCity (EC) trains. You may be requred to make a seat reservation.
Local trains
These are a slower but easier method of train travel and there are plenty of local train services running across europe. Setting options may be limited to 2nd class only.
Famous scenic routes
Europe is packed with picturesque and breathtaking scenery. Some of the more popular routes are:

Travel at night
With accommodation to suit individual budgets, travelling at night allows you to fit in a good nights sleep so that your refreshed the next morning for sightseeing activities.
Generally, these trains will offer sleepers or couchettes with the chance of reclining seats. Those of you travelling on a budget would be advised to look into booking a couchette or reclining seat.
